Rick Settersten is Professor of Human Development and Family Sciences at Oregon State University. He has also held fellowships at the Institute for Policy Research at Northwestern University and the Max Planck Institute for Human Development and Education in Berlin. His research relates to the ways in which the life course is conditioned by age, time, and social contexts. He is the author or editor of Lives in Time and Place: The Problems and Promises of Developmental Science, Invitation to the Life Course: Toward New Understandings of Later Life, Advances in Life Course Research: New Frontiers in Socialization  (with Tim Owens), and On the Frontier of Adulthood: Theory, Research, and Public Policy (with Frank Furstenberg and Rubén Rumbaut).
