Rick Settersten is Professor of Human
Development and Family Sciences at Oregon State University. He has also
held fellowships at the Institute for Policy Research at Northwestern University and
the Max Planck Institute for Human Development and Education in Berlin.
His research relates to the ways in which the life course is conditioned
by age, time, and social contexts. He is the author or editor of Lives in Time and Place: The Problems and Promises
